Classics, Brights & Sequins...

Once again this March the fashion elite joined up to showcase the most exciting work in British fashion, bringing together big names, new faces and Peaches Geldof (where does she find the time?)

Luella’s A/W collection coupled immaculate tailoring with edgy leather jackets. Monochrome has always been a classic style statement, and in the midst of a recession, an easy guarantee for staying in vogue. Girl’s Aloud star Nicola Roberts, the UK’s current fashion darling, is a big fan of the brand, and was front row at the show in a soft black jacket and multi-layer skirt.

Another artist championing black and white simplicity was new designer Mark Fast. Tipped to be a big name in British fashion, Mark, a 27 year-old Canadian, is a pioneer of the versatility of knitwear. His pieces are often experimental, but echo Simply Cashmere’s feelings that knitted should mean cutting-edge rather than frumpy.

As for everybody’s favourite high street brand, Topshop didn’t disappoint with their Unique range, which saw mostly dark pieces, with colourful accessories. Teaming new scarves and necklaces with classic knitwear or jackets is a great way to update a look, and enables you to wear the same piece repeatedly. Another Topshop tip for revamping clothes is wearing leggings, and using belts to cinch in waists and create a ladylike silhouette.

For lovers of colour, the Paul Smith, who describes his work as “classic with a twist”, combined delicate woodland shades, with bright flashes of colour. Smith is a big fan of knitwear, particularly ribbed, so to get the look try teaming serene green or purple ribbed V-neck with a hot pink scarf or belt.

House of Holland also favoured the colourful look, going for paint-chart pastels in thick, horizontal stripes. These colours are made truly luxurious when made in cashmere, and are fresh enough to ensure a place on the catwalks for Spring 2010. The effortlessly cool Agyness Deyn modelled for this show, before disappearing with her mate Henry Holland to an after party.

For the woman in need of some evening glamour, there was, as always, Julien Macdonald, who showcased plunging blouses and timelessly feminine dresses. Macdonald champions the use of sequins and metallic touches to make models shine, and at Simply Cashmere we know that in every woman lurks a magpie! That’s why we have a number of statement pieces embellished with delicate sequinned details.

The overall looks of the week seemed to be classic and monochrome, flashes of brightness, and sequins for evening, all of which we are proud to showcase in our own collection. Like the best designers we make our pieces to last through the seasons, with a few subtle changes to keep them up to date.

We hope you enjoy our collection.

Please contact the Simply Cashmere style team if there is a look you would like us to feature on the SC website...We always love to hear from you!
